Take care of your new investment:
Your body treats a new tattoo like a burn or infection. Do not let your tattoo dry out or push the ink out of your tattoo. You paid for the application of your ink into your skin. Keep the ink in your skin by following these instructions. Your tattoo is an investment in yourself, you should treat it like one. Please read these instructions carefully and completely.
Leave the bandage alone!! Your artist took care to cover up your new tattoo for good reason, to keep airborne bacteria from invading your wound. Open flesh is a breeding ground for bacteria and infection. The bandage should remain on the tattoo for at least 30 minutes but no more than 3 hours. (If the bandage is stuck to the new tattoo, rinse under warm water until the bandage releases easily).
Apply your aftercare as directed: Apply a small amount of ointment until absorbed in the skin. (Tattooed skin and about half inch around tattooed skin). Follow exactly as directed and the tattoo should heal in 5-7 days.
Always wash your hands thoroughly before touching your new tattoo.
DO NOT use a wash cloth or anything abrasive on the tattoo (Fingertips only).
DO NOT re-bandage your tattoo.
DO NOT pick or scratch your new tattoo.
Avoid anything that will submerge the tattoo entirely under water for a few weeks (I.E. oceans, lakes, ponds, swimming pools, hot tubs, bath tubs, rivers, creaks, streams, etc.).
DO NOT over soak your new tattoo with water while in the shower.
Avoid direct sunlight and tanning beds for a few weeks. Also avoid tanning oils, tanning lotions, and sand or dirt on your new tattoo.
Avoid tight fitting clothing which could cause irritation and rough healing.
While using aftercare products please follow all instruction during the healing process.
DO NOT use alcohol on the new tattoo (this will dry it out and cause cracking).
DO NOT allow any foreign substance on the tattoo. This especially applies to pets coming into contact with the new tattoo.
